The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also revealed the candidates list of the Delhi MCD Elections 2012. BJP has announced the 272 candidates on the last day, while the Congress has released its candidates list much earlier.
It was the last day on Monday (26 March, 2012) when any political party had to file the nominations in the Delhi MCD Elections 2012. The Delhi BJP President Vijender Gupta managed to get a ticket after he was opted out of the list due to a woman as his ward was transferred to her.
Vijender however managed to get in the list in the place of his wife (Shobha Vijender) who had stuck into a controversy of irregularities in her NGO Sampoorna.
This time, good figures of women have been included in the list. About 139 female candidates were included in the BJP candidates list 2012. However, the Congress list 2012 includes 140 female candidates.
The BJP has included the five Muslim candidates in the 139 female candidates. The Muslim female candidates will fight the Delhi MCD elections 2012 in the Jama Masjid,Minto Road, Qasabpura, Zakir Nagar and Turkman Gate regions.
Vijender along with many new comers in the Delhi MCD elections 2012 are fighting for the first time ever. However, the people like Arti Mehra, Prithvi Raj Swahney, Jagdish Mamgain and VK Monga were unable to get the ticket for the MCD elections. The earlier two were the former Mayors while the latter two are the prominent BJP councilors.
